2019 The Great North Run 全程影片
在英國泰恩河畔新堡有 5 萬人以上參與的 The Great North Run，來自肯亞的馬拉松名將 Brigid Kosgei 跑出 64:28，雖然因為賽道的關係，不被承認為正式紀錄，但這是歷史上女性最快的半馬完賽成績！現在的世界正式紀錄為 Joyciline Jepkosgei 的 64:51。

Brigid Kosgei 以 15:39 通過 5公里、30:53 通過 10公里，早早就甩開其他女子選手，最後單飛奪冠，「我純粹盡力跑，沒想過能跑出這個成績，就這樣。」她精簡扼要的表示「今天這場對芝加哥馬來說是不錯的準備！」
Brigid Kosgei 於 2017 年開啟她的馬拉松生涯，兩年來在倫敦馬拉松和芝加哥馬拉松共獲得二金二銀，尤其是今年倫敦馬跑出個人最佳 2:18:20，為倫敦馬拉松第三快賽道成績；Brigid Kosgei 五週後將再戰芝加哥馬拉松。

今年 The Great North Run 另一個焦點是地主選手 Mo Farah，亦要參加芝加哥馬拉松的 Farah 以 59:07 奪冠；他 2012 年擔任本賽鳴槍來賓，2013 年首度參賽，和傳奇人物 Haile Gebrselassie 和 Kenenisa Bekele 經典對決下獲得第二名，接下來 2014 年開始年年奪冠，累計至今年六連霸！
另外一個焦點是英國世錦賽馬拉松代表 Callum Hawkins，他以 60:39 獲得第四名、並完成 225公里的一週跑量！對於在訓練量達到高峰時跑出這成績，他表示很滿意；Callum Hawkins 馬拉松最佳成績 2:08:14、半馬最佳 60:00，是上屆世錦賽馬拉松第四名、里約奧運馬拉松第9名，2017年在香川丸龜半程馬拉松跑出個人最佳、以大差距獲勝。
